A review of the Published Research on Cotton Carding

Salah eldin Abdel Latief Mohamed

During the last twenty years, or more there have been significant developments to the revolving-flats carding machine. Although much research has been published on the fundamentals of the carding process, there were contradictions in the explanation of fibre behaviour during the carding process and in the effectiveness of certain developments which were then widely accepted as beneficial. This paper cites a review of the literature published on the way how fibre mass is disentangled into individual fibres and the effectiveness of principal machine components. Areas are indicated where further research is needed to resolve contradictory views and give a better understanding of the carding process.
